About the Author / Arranger

In addition to being a published author of quality fiction for young people, Olive Huisman is an accomplished singer, pianist, composer and arranger.  

She sang with the Maryland Choral Society for 18 years and with the University of Maryland chorus for two performances at the Kennedy Center.  

Ms. Huisman taught piano and music theory for 30 years until she retired to write, something she'd always dreamed of doing.  She has done quite well in her writing career with several published short stories and two published books,  Best Friends and A Guest In The House.

She and her husband, Seth, currently live in Cornwall, PA and enjoy spending time with their three children and six grandchildren, several of whom often remind her what it's like to be a teenager.

What's New?

• Ms..Huisman passed away September 5, 2021. We will continue to maintain this site to honor her memory. 
• 02/21/2021  Ms. Huisman, who was diagnosed with dementia last year, is now under hospice care in her Pennsylvania retirement community. Sadly, no further arrangements will be forthcoming, but this site will remain active and the arrangements free for download for the foreseeable future. Your prayers for her comfort are most welcome.

• 12/02/2013 A day after being admitted to Penn State Hershey Medical Centre, Ms. Huisman suffered a stroke.  For a brief time she lost all feeling on one side.  However, by God's grace and perfect timing, there was a team of doctors in her room at the time of this incident.  They acted quickly, and she recovered completely.  Your prayers for her continued health are greatly appreciated. • 08/15/2012  A new hymn arrangement is coming soon.  The sheet music is nearly finished but the recording isn't ready yet.  
• 5/2/2012  Olive Huisman is taking a few weeks off for a trip to Germany with her husband Seth.  They plan to visit their daughter Marci and her husband John and their two children.
